Honored to call these amazing people friends...

We were so privileged when Paul, Becca, and Nathan Gray came to visit us and spend the night. Paul was a groomsman in our wedding. They are saying goodbye to friends and family and leaving for Ethiopia to be missionaries. Paul is a brilliant surgeon and Becca is a dietitian. Paul will be training local Ethiopian doctors in surgery and helping run a Christian hospital. The need there is so great. The city where they will be living is poverty-stricken (average annual income is roughly $120 US dollars!!!) and is currently experiencing a famine. Paul showed us a statistic that said that, in Africa, for every 250,000 to 2.4 million people (depending on the region) there is ONE surgeon available... That many moms and/or babies die during labor because there are no doctors to help them.
Tim met him when they led a Bible Study together while in Medical School. Their baby, Nathan is 6 months old. Becca is such an amazing woman of God focused on serving. She is cool as a cucumber and the trendiest missionary I know. I LOVE their hearts for Christ. They just want to serve people and meet their needs in order that they would know Christ and hear the gospel. I was so inspired, moved, challenged and excited just from being around them. They are an incredibly gifted team. They are sacrificially leaving so much (in the world's eyes) to go serve God.
If you are looking for ministries to give to, you should definitely consider this ministry. It just makes me think of what the Bible calls "pure religion". It is such a great way to put your money to work for the Gospel. You can find out more if you are interested in getting involved by visiting their blog... http://www.paulandbecca.blogspot.com/

I saw Lake when I came to pick Andrew up from school. He was opening and shutting all of the cabinets and trying to get in them!! He was also chewing on the corners! Such a little cutie...when we were leaving, Andrew was yelling "Bye Bye Ake" I think they are buddies now!
