I haven't had much to blog about this week because it has been a really hard week for me. One of my best friend's mom took her own life on Monday. As I have walked down this road with my beautiful friend, my heart aches for her and for the closeness of Jesus. I long for understanding and the safety of heaven where the hurt will stop. Where our tears will be wiped away and understanding will be known. I look at my sweet boys and just want to hold all 3 of them so close to me and never let anything bad happen to them. So, where do I turn in a world of hurt for shelter? Where does comfort come from and where does healing begin? Who am I praying to as my friend is painting her mom's nails for her funeral? There is only one who is closer than a brother, able to help in any and all situations and has died so that we may one day be rescued from this fallen world. Who is this King of Glory? His name is Jesus. If you don't know him, you must. Not only is he the perfect sacrifice for your sins but He is your Hope in this world. I don't want to be too depressing because the Bible says that God has so many good things for us here too!!
in Psalm 27...
"I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."
"How great is your goodness, which you have STORED UP for those who fear you..."
in Psalm 31:19
"You turned my wailing into dancing;
you removed my sackloth and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever."
Psalm 30:11,12
But as you all know, there is real pain on this side of heaven. Cling to God, cry out to him, know Him as much as it is within your power. Secure your spot in eternity by asking Christ to forgive you of your sins. Most of you know my testimony and how I came to know the Lord in college alone with only my Bible. It was there that I began a love relationship with Jesus. The only place to start getting to know the God of the universe is in His written love letter to you, the Bible. Our hope in a hopeless world is in Christ and His love for us AND His plan for us.
"Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile, we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not with to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come."
2 Corinthians 5:1-5
