"This is what the Lord says;
"Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom
or the strong man boast of his strength
or the rich man boast of his riches,
but let him who boasts boast about this;
that he understands and knows me,
that I am the Lord, who executes kindness,
justice and rigteousness on earth,
for in these I delight."
Jeremiah 9:23-24
When God is talking about understanding and knowing Him, He specifically says that if we understand and know Him, then we know He executes kindness, justice and righteousness and that He DELIGHTS in those things. When bad things happen in our lives, we have to run to this truth. This will be our stabilizing truth when circumstances give way. I know this is hard. It is one of those truths you HAVE to build you life on so you can withstand suffering. Knowing (really knowing) God is kind, just and righteous means there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. There is always hope. There is always a greater good at work because of the nature and character of God.
I wondered what the Bible says about us executing kindness. Since God has executed so much kindness toward us, how could we not execute that kindness toward others?
Here are just a few verses to be inspired by.
Proverbs 11:17 "A kind man benefits himself.."
Proverbs 14:21 "... but blessed is he who is kind to the needy"
Proverbs 14:31 "...but whoever is kind to the needy honors God."
Proverbs 19:17 "He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord,
and he will reward him for what he has done."
