Peace like a River

The longer I live, the more I "appreciate" waiting. I waited on the Lord to show me His plan for my life after I asked Him to come into my heart and use me for His purposes. I waited on Him to renew my mind with His Word. I waited on Him to begin transforming me from the inside out and teach me how to walk with Him. I waited on Him to bring me a husband. I waited on Him to teach me how to be a wife. I have waited on Him to heal me of a chronic illness (longest/hardest wait so far). I have waited on Him to deliver me from the attacks of the enemy and from evil people who have crept into my life. I waited on Him to give us children. I waited on Him to teach me how to be a mother. Now, I am waiting on the Lord to bring our next baby... in His time.
Waiting is hard
Single girls, I REMEMBER!!
But, as you walk with the Lord and see His faithfulness and perfect timing, it does get a little easier to trust and WAIT. I am still waiting on Him everyday to give me my daily bread and living water and to change me!!!!
I am daily waiting on Him to help me do what He is calling me to do.
Because I know that if He doesn't give me His strength and gifts and power, I am sunk.

"In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly."
Ps 5:3

"Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."
Ps 27:14

"We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield."
Ps 33:20

"Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him"
Ps 37:7

"Lord, I wait for you; you will answer, Lord my God."
Ps 38:15

"I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope."
Ps 130:5

"Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts."
Is 26:8

"But you must return to your God; maintain love and justice, and wait for your God always."
Hosea 12:6
"I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”
Lam 3:24
"But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me."

Micah 7:7

"But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently."
Rom 8:25

God is helping me be a better WAITER (I think). Last week when I found out I was 3 cm dilated, I freaked out a little. So anxious. Then I read this verse...
“I will extend peace to her like a river"
Is 66:12

Ahhhhhhhh. Life-changing verse for me. That verse has not stopped speaking to me.
I am hoping to post it all over my delivery room.
Since reading this verse and REALIZING the type of peace I have access to in Christ, I have had peace like a river! That is a new one for this impatient girl. I like being in control. I like making things happen. But, God is teaching me to trust Him and seek His kingdom about ALL ELSE.
His will, not mine.
His timing, not mine.
Agreeing and Yielding to the fact
that He knows much more than I do about what is BEST.

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts."
Is 55:8,9

His peace has begun to envelop me  in a new way.
I actually had a dream of being back at my grandparent's when I was a little girl. My grandmother was cooking dinner. It was SO peaceful. The memories of that house are some of the most peaceful ones I have.  They had a huge garden, a lassy dog, roses everywhere, delicious food, the biggest Bible you have ever seen on the coffee table, everything was always bleached clean, my grandmother read the Bible to me before bed, she permed my hair, and
it was quiet except for the gospel music coming from the tiny kitchen radio.
How fun to get to go back there in my dream!

Our home has also been unusually peaceful (except that I drop EVERYTHING).
It isn't clean like my grandmother's was and I definitely can't cook like her but our children are healthy and joyful. Laughter fills our home.
Tim and I are in love and so thankful for this new life.

All of my fears of how (in the world???) am I going to parent 6 children and homeschool and survive another newborn stage were silenced by this verse.
I don't know how I am going to do it. But I know He has promised to give me His peace.
The last few days have been such a blessing. I treasure every moment with the children... knowing that our/their world is about to change. It will be a difficult season for me. After I have a baby, I am the weakest I can possibly be... physically, emotionally, spiritually. I really "hide" behind Tim trusting His banner over me to protect. In the past, we have had major trials when we had a newborn. The enemy strikes when we are vulnerable. I just pray God will be merciful and protect our family during the next 6 months.
Hope, Reece, and I went to see the Broadway play Beauty and The Beast Sunday. Then we went to Krispy Kreme to get everybody doughnuts (oh my goodness the pumpkin cheesecake one....). Last night Evan came into my room around 9 and just started talking. He is growing up so fast. I just listened as he told me about his world. He talked about legos, movies, friends, football, etc... I was so tired but I loved that he wanted to talk to me. So we talked until about 10pm. Then I fell asleep with my clothes on because the 2 feet walk to my jammie drawer seemed more like 200 million miles away.

God is extending peace to me like a river and He can do the same thing for you.

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
John 14:27

Whether you are waiting on a baby to come, a husband to come, a miracle in your marriage, healing, a job, etc...
God is at work in your life.
Don't forget what He has already done
and wait on His plan to UNFOLD.
It will!
"But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for HIS PLAN TO UNFOLD."
Ps 106:13

Yes, we can get worn out from waiting on God's rescue but put your hope in His Word and believe it. Strain to see His promises come true in your life.

"I am worn out waiting for your rescue,
I have put my hope in your word.
My eyes are straining to see your promises come true."
Ps 119:81,82

May you be encouraged in your season of waiting.
May God extend His peace to you like a river.
Ask Him to do it.
He is so faithful.

Be Blessed~

This is such a hopeful, powerful post. Thank you!
And you mentioned your chronic illness - are you still praying for healing from that? You look so perfectly glowing and healthy!
