Lemonade Disaster

I was inspired by another blog to do a lemonade stand today. I was so excited. Tim was home early so he was able to stay home with Lake. Perfect! I loaded tons of stuff in the car and we went to Wal-Mart to get some things we didn't have. It took forever to get everything together. But what better way to teach them about money, work ethic and tithing? So, off we go.
I am already sweating. I found a perfect shady spot under a tree right in the front of our neighborhood where it is very busy. We were going to be rich in just a few short hours!!!
I put up huge signs that said "LEMONADE" so that no one could miss us.
Here is Bubba enjoying his ice-cold beverage.
What a great day and a great learning opportunity! We are only there for 20 seconds before our first customer stopped- a Fed-Ex man or delivery guy of some sort. Then the next, then the next. Then my friend stopped to say hi and gave us a dollar. WHAT FUN!!! I think we had been there for a total of 2 minutes when... IT happened.
Bubba accidentally kicked the whole table over.
Reece is in disbelief. So am I.
This is him showing Reece what happened.
Now cars are slowing down and staring. They aren't sure whether to stop and help or just give us all their money because we are so pitiful. I could have used Reece and his tears to earn some FAT CASH but I didn't. It was VERY embarassing.
But... we walked back to get the car and loaded everything back up.

We didn't even cover the cost of our powdered lemonade. Live and learn...

and NAIL DOWN THE TABLE. :)

What I thought would be a lesson about money turned into a much bigger (and much more memorable) lesson about FORGIVENESS. One of the verses they know says...

"...and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." How many times have I been Bubba in that situation? He gets it from me. Not thinking before I act. I apologized to Reece for not telling Bubba to not push on the table. It was really my fault. So now, we are all happy and forgiven. We will attempt another Lemonade stand this weekend, hopefully.

May my children (AND I) always be full of grace and forgiveness even when things don't go as planned.

oh wow. I wanted to cry with Reece when I saw the last photo. Poor guy- and Momma and Bubba too. We used the kids little picnic table so they could sit at it. I bet they are disappointed.
Maybe you could try again sometime soon- I know that you'll have success.
sorry guys.

Oh, and tell Bubba I think he and Evie are knit from the same cloth. She would completely be tickled pink to knock over any table, anytime.

Awwww!!! These pictures made me smile! :) I remember my days of lemonade stands... though I can't say we ever had our table fall over! What fun memories!

This makes me want to cry. Poor Reece looks so sad :( I would have bought the lemonade off of the ground to make him smile again!!

Like everything else in life, it's all about the foundation.

Thankfully, Christ is our foundation and has absorbed the nailing for us.

God bless,

Sean
